The way the wind blows. Acrylic.
I like painting faces - just made up faces rather than portraits. This picture is loosely based on a photo of my mother holding onto her hat. it looks nothing like my mum (though interestingly my daughter said it did have some resemblance). In the photo the hat was made of beige straw, my mum was wearing sunglasses and the cardigan was navy. And her grey hair has never been ginger. But apart from that ... I painted and repainted the face so many times the paper is slightly buckled. I experimented with glaze on the face, suggested by my art tutor, but I must have dragged it too much, creating paint wrinkles which  actually look OK. I think I will crop it more tightly. I love the red and green.
